Tom arrived at SCAN earlier this year after living in a household where domestic violence was common. He was also assaulted by a male resident for trying to protect his owner. Adjusting to life in the shelter was initially confusing for Tom, as he had only ever known one family since he was a puppy. Despite this, his resilience quickly shone through, and he soon settled in, befriending several smaller dogs, including his new buddy Arturo.

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵

Tom is truly a wonderful dog. He loves attention from people and enjoys being fussed over. Sometimes, he can be protective due to the abuse he endured, so any potential adopter must appreciate his background and support his transition into a new home. With patience and understanding, Tom would make a fantastic addition to any family.

Our vet has given Tom a clean bill of health, and he has now been neutered. Tom thrives outdoors, enjoying playtime and walks. He keeps his kennel clean, walks well on a lead, and loves to be groomed.

Tom is searching for a forever home with a family that can provide space, love, and time for him to adjust. During a brief interaction with a cat at SCAN, Tom was curious but not aggressive, showing plenty of friendly tail wagging (not from the cat!).
