SCAN has a reputation for quality of care, high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and for keeping our promises. The excellence of our hygiene and administrative processes has won us the coveted Núcleo Zoológico accreditation. This is a National and Regional set of standards for organisations dealing with animals. Only shelters with this accreditation are able to transport animals across international borders.
Our purpose built Centre has been designed to provide a light, airy and clean living environment for all of the Animals under SCAN´s care.
Facilities include secure animal shelters, an on-site veterinary treatment room, an office, storage areas, and kitchens. The Centre, in a newly developed industrial zone on land donated by the El Verger Ayuntamiento, (council) meets the exacting standards required of a modern and compliant Animal Facility.
Our vet visits the Centre once a week to assess new arrivals and examine animals giving cause for concern. This approach enables problems to be caught early, helping to avoid complex treatments and unnecessary suffering for the animals.
The Centre boasts 1400m2 of exercise, play and training areas and a BBQ Garden where we hold a number of our fundraising events.
